World Fairtrade Challenge 2018
매년 국제공정무역기구 본부에서 주최하고 전 세계 동시 개최되는 ‘World Fairtrade Challenge(WFC) 2018’이 5월 11일~13일까지 개최된다. 지난 ‘WFC 2017’은 전 세계 43개국의 200만 명 이상이 참가해 성공적으로 공정무역을 알리고 기념했다. 올 해에도 전 세계적으로 학교, 직장, 가정 내에서 공정무역을 즐겁게 알리는 캠페인을 진행 할 예정이다. 한국사무소는 특별히 5월 11일, 12일 양일간 명동 하나은행 본점 앞 ‘삼각공원’과 ‘정동야행’에서 ‘World Fairtrade Challenge 2018’ 오프라인 행사를 개최해 공정무역의 취지와 의미, 국내 유통 중인 다양한 공정무역 인증제품을 소개할 예정이다.
World Fairtrade Challenge 2018
From 11-13 May 2018, everyone is invited to join Fairtrade farmers, workers and supporters across the globe to make the case for more trade justice. In last year’s World Fairtrade Challenge more than 2 million participants in 43 countries gathered to celebrate the difference Fairtrade can make to farmers and workers worldwide. This year, Fairtrade supporters are coming together again to stand for fairness in global trade. The World Fairtrade Challenge 2018 encourages citizens and community groups around the world to stand for trade fairness in many different ways: Friends, family, neighbours and colleagues can get together and share Fairtrade products or organize an event. In Korea, you can join World Fairtrade Challenge 2018 at "Jeongdong Yahang" and the park in front of Myeongdong Hana Bank's head office from 11-12 May.

Oxfam Fairtrade 한국사무소 방문
‘가난이 없는 공정한 세상’을 모토로 전 세계 92개국에서 활동 중인 옥스팜 인터내셔널 산하의 옥스팜 페어트레이드(Oxfam Fairtrade) 수출담당자가 지난 4월 23일~25일 한국사무소를 방문했다. 한국사무소는 국내 공정무역 시장, 유통 중인 공정무역 인증제품을 소개하고 공정무역 파트너사와 다양한 수입, 유통업체와의 미팅을 주선했다. 현재 국내에는 Oxfam 콜라, 아이스티, 레몬에이드 음료와 스낵, 바 등 옥스팜 Fairtrade 제품이 출시돼 있으며, 향후 더 다양한 제품이 출시를 위한 논의 중이다.(www.oxfamfairtrade.be)

Oxfam is an international confederation of 20 organizations working together with partners and local communities in more than 90 countries. Oxfam Fairtrade under the Oxfam International, manager of sales department visited Fairtrade Korea from 23 – 25 April. Fairtrade Korea introduced Korean Fair Trade market and products that available in Korea and arranged meetings with our partners and various companies. Currently, Oxfam Fairtrade products such as Oxfam cola, iced tea, lemonade drinks and snacks are on the market and more products are being discussed for launch in near future.

‘베스트웨스턴 프리미어 호텔국도’
레스토랑, 연회장에서도 공정무역 인증커피 제공
베스트웨스턴 프리미어 호텔국도에서는 4월 2일부터 호텔 레스토랑 및 연회장에서 제공하는 커피를 공정무역 인증 원두로 교체하기로 결정했다. 공정무역 인증원두는 안전성, 신뢰성, 윤리성이 보장될 뿐만 아니라 스페셜티 원두로 그 맛과 향이 뛰어나기 때문에 호텔 투숙객 및 고객들에게 제공하기에 가장 이상적이다. 국도호텔은 현재 전체 300여 객실 내 공정무역 더치커피를 미니바에서 제공하고 있으며, 한발 더 나아가 더 많은 고객들에게 공정무역 인증제품을 제공하기 위해 레스토랑 및 연회장 도입을 시작했다. 이를 통해 국도호텔은 글로벌 사회적 책임을 수행하며, 고객들에게 안전하고 좋은 제품을 제공하고 국내외 고객들로부터 신뢰를 쌓을 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. 또한 국도호텔을 이용하는 고객들 역시 자연스럽게 안전하고 윤리적인 소비를 실천할 수 있다.
Best Western Premier Hotel Kukdo introduced Fairtrade certified coffee
From 2 April, Best Western Premier Hotel Kukdo decided to replace the coffee served at the hotel restaurant and breakfast with Fairtrade certified beans. Fair Trade Certified Beans are not only safe, reliable, and ethical, but they are also ideal for hotel guests and customers because they are excellent in taste and flavour with specialty beans. Kukdo Hotel currently offers Fairtrade certified Dutch coffee in the mini-bar and started introducing Fairtrade coffee at breakfast and restaurants to provide Fairtrade certified products to more customers. Through this, Kukdo Hotel is expected to fulfil global social responsibility and provide safe and good products to its customers.

공정무역 유기농 설탕 출시
국내 공정무역 유기농 설탕이 출시됐다. 설탕은 음식, 음료 등을 통해 남녀노소 누구나 섭취하기 때문에 안전성이 특히 중요하다. 공정무역 인증 설탕은 까다로운 공정무역 기준(아동노동금지, 여성인권차별금지, EU금지농약사용금지, 유전자변형 금지 등)을 준수하고 유기농으로 재배된 비정제설탕으로 미네랄이 살아있으며 안전하다. 뿐만 아니라 설탕생산자들에게 정당한 임금과 지역사회 발전을 위한 프리미엄을 지급해 윤리적인 제품이다. 유통 문의는 씨디씨산업 주식회사(www.cdcdev.co.kr)로 가능하다.
The first Fairtrade organic sugar in Korea
The first fairtrade organic sugar in Korea is launched. Fairtrade certified sugar complies with strict Fair Trade standards (prohibition of child labor, prohibition of discrimination on human rights of women, prohibition of EU prohibited pesticides, prohibition of GMO, etc.) and organically grown. The fairtrade premium is used for projects ranging from improving farming techniques to investing in schools – helping thousands of sugar farmers and their families.
