2016-2017 국제공정무역기구 연간보고서 발간
20년이 넘는 기간 동안 농민과 노동자들을 대신해 지속적으로 확장해 가고 있는 국제공정무역기구는 2016-2017 연간 보고서 <Creating Innovations, Scaling Up Impact>를 발간했다. 생산자들의 수입 증대를 추구하는 것부터 기업에게는 새로운 공정무역 참여 기회를 소개하고, 궁극적으로는 생산자와 노동자들이 지속 가능한 삶을 영위하고 스스로 미래를 계획할 수 있도록 여러 가지방법을 모색하고 있다. 보고서에 따르면 2016년도 전 세계 매출은 11조 원에 달하며 생산자들은 공정무역 프리미엄으로 1940억원을 받았다. 국제공정무역기구 글로벌 CEO인 다리오Dario Soto Abril는 “공정무역은 지속 가능성 안에서의 변화를 수용하며, 지난 20년 간의 성공을 바탕으로 향후 전망에 대해 매우 낙관적이고 기대가 된다.”고 말했다.
Release of Fairtrade’s annual report, 2016-2017
More than two decades into its existence, Fairtrade continues to innovate and expand on behalf of farmers and workers, according to the organization’s annual report entitled “Creating Innovations, Scaling Up Impact”. From pursuing a living wage and living income for producers, to introducing new options for commercial partners to engage, Fairtrade is finding more ways to foster sustainable livelihoods and enable farmers and workers to take more control of their future. During 2016, Fairtrade worked with more than 1.6 million farmers and workers around the globe, global Fairtrade sales totalled €7.88 billion. “Fairtrade is embracing changes in the sustainability landscape. We are building on the successes of the past two decades and are excited and optimistic about the prospects that the future will bring.” noted Soto Abril, Global CEO of Fairtrade International.
공정한 에코백 출시

Alpha will launch Eco Bag made of Fairtrade certified and organic cotton in December for the first time in Korea. Cotton is the most important crop in the world textile industry, yet also notorious for use of chemical fertilizers, genetically modified (GMO) and child labor. In contrast, Fairtrade certified cotton is free from chemical fertilizers and genetically modified cultivation as well as child labor and exploitation of labor. In addition, Fairtrade premium makes Fairtrade cotton producers in India have better life by providing education, healthcare and so on.
